Peru is a mystical and magical place steeped in rich culture and sometimes bloody history; it
has everything from the deep impenetrable Amazon jungle and its astonishing wildlife, to
some of the highest and most impressive mountains in the world. It also has deep endless
forbidding deserts that seem empty and impassable… but not for Polaris Outdoor. This may
be one of the most enriching expeditions a person could ever complete.


In the Jungle you will step beyond the edge of civilisation and go to places that few have
ever travelled. You will learn a wealth of knowledge of the fauna and flora of the deep
Amazon, including its tightly kept secrets that will allow you to feel right at home in one of the
worlds toughest environments. There are also people we can help by providing clean water
and completing incredible humanitarian aid projects.


This Peru Expedition is extra special… In partnership with the Natural History Museum of Lima we
offer participants the unique opportunity to go to the seemingly impassable desert regions to
look for buried treasure in the form of ancient fossil remains of giant whales and the largest
carnivore to ever have been discovered! Key archaeological sites are also yet to be
discovered.

What You Will Do

    ancient wonders of the world
  • See the wonderful city of Cusco and taker in the sights
  • Go to the edge of the world and step off the map in the Peruvian Amazon
  •  Complete meaningful humanitarian aid projects in the jungle
  •  Go to the high Ica desert and find treasure in the form of important scientific artefacts
    and fossils

Where will I sleep? Be prepared for some of the most diverse sleeping arrangements you will ever get to experience! On this trip you will enjoy wonderful local hostels in the beautiful city of Cusco and even dine at the 5 star Cusco hotel and relax in the spa with relaxing saunas and pool facilities. Then you will spend time in the deep Amazon jungle where you will spend time sleeping in a hammock under a tarp in the tropical forest. In this place you will be self sufficient and gain confidence looking after yourself and others. The High Ica desert is hot and arid. Here you will learn to look after your kit in the sand and the heat whilst digging for rare and ancient fossils.

The itinerary can be changed to meet your individual needs:
Cusco: Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail. 1-9 days. This can include extra days touring
Cusco, the Rainbow Mountains and Silent Valley.
Jungle Phase: Depending on your time and the Humanitarian activity you can spend up to
14 days in the Jungle.
Ica Desert usually a maximum of 5 days spent here with some lovely respite on the coast

Polaris ran a corporate event for us today. They hosted us at the national shooting centre in Bisley for clay pigeon shooting and an amazing lunch, followed by fire craft, foraging tips and wood carving. Brilliant day for everyone. Amazing Arctic Expedition. Lewes Old Grammar School worked with Polaris to send a group of year 10 students on an incredible week in Finland. The students were trained in Arctic survival skills and learnt the most enormous amount about themselves. A fabulous opportunity. The staff at Polaris were motivational and Mat is a great leader making sure that everyone is participating fully and getting the most out of the opportunity.

The Arctic expedition was life changing for our students. Over the course of the week the students gelled as a team, I saw their true colours shining through and they all loved it. Our daughter went on an Arctic Expedition with her school which was organized & managed by Polaris. She had the most amazing time & in a single trip accomplished several things that could be considered life experiences such as seeing the Northern lights, sleeping outdoors in a survival shelter & husky sledding. The Polaris Team were a huge part of what made the trip exciting for the pupils involved, & clearly had the ability to mix their experience & professionalism with the fun & understanding required to manage a group of adolescent school children, which must have been challenging.
